I don’t know about you, but it seems that I am always thinking of different ways to tweak my Cockpit set up to improve comfort, stiffness, and its overall performance. While using the handbrake in the horizontal position did not create any detrimental effects to my comfort or performance, I couldn’t help thinking that I wanted to try the handbrake in a vertical orientation. But as seen in the previous video I made concerning the combining the SimWorx sequential shifter and the Heusinkveld handbrake that position was not possible if I wanted to keep the handbrake in the same plane as the shifters handle. The only way to get this HE unit mounted in the vertical position was to cant he handbrake at an angle to the shifter lever. Then use an inexpensive belt sander, metal file and sandpaper to bring my rather ruff looking piece of scrap aluminum stock I had laying around the SRG to a finish level that I wouldn’t mind looking at every day. While driving with the handbrake in its new position I immediately liked what I was feeling. Once my muscle memory adapted to the new position, it was actually easier to employ it.
