Ascher Racing Push-Pull Rally Shifter

Ever since I first saw some of the WRC Rally cars using a push pull paddle shifter, I wanted to try one for myself. I have seen other DIY versions of Push-Pull shifters, which looked liked the would work fine, but I was waiting to see
if someone would come out with one that you could buy already built. Finally I have found it. And the fact that it comes from one of the premier Sim Racing hardware builders around today, just makes it that much better. The build quality, parts used and resulting product are exactly what we have come to expect when buying hardware from Ascher Racing Just one of those pieces of kit that shine as soon as you take it out of the box. A deceivingly simple design
that delivers on performance. I have been enjoying my time with this shifter. At first I thought there might be a bit of a learning curve when using the Push-Pull action. But in reality it mimics the movement of a regular sequential shifter
mounted to the cars console. So once I stopped reaching for a sequential that was no longer there, it all  came together with a natural analog feeling. Now there are some considerations to be had when purchasing this unit. You need to take some measurements where you will be mounting it. This will let you avoid getting the wrong mounting bracket when purchasing the system. The rim you use will also determine you bracket length. I use a 4″ extension so
I needed to get the longest or, “+ 85”, bracket option. And you will need to make a cable selection based on what type of connection you will be using. Lastly you will need to get the right base mounting bracket. I like the fact that one
bracket actually covers 3 different motor mounting possibilities. And I hope there is a mounting solution for the Accuforce motor base soon. On a side note, I wanted to see how difficult it would be to use a wheel sporting a button plate
equipped with paddle shifters with this shifter mounted to my wheel base. Using an OMP Superquatro wheel with one of my Ascher Racing button plates installed, I noticed that with the shifter and clutch paddles attached there is
interference with the Push-Pull shifter. But after removing the paddles from one side of the plate and making some adjustments to Push-Pull mounts, it was able to clear the shifter and allow unimpeded shifts. So if you have button plate attached you should be able to dial it in for this use. Pricing on this solution will vary with what you order. The basic shifter assembly will run you 199€ which includes the short shifter paddle. The longer shifter paddle will set you back another 10€. So 209€ for the one I got. Unless you will fabricating your own mounting bracket, which is completely doable, you need to order the Ascher mounting bracket. And again, the configuration you need will determine the final price. The price for my setup was 49€. The total was 258€. Now that included a VAT that was 41.19€. So the grand total was actually 216.81€ plus shipping.  Considering the build design and quality you get with this shifter, I really don’t think that price is out of line.
