Final thoughts on the MME Motorsport Handbrake. Out of the box, this controller presents as a professionally manufactured unit. Constructed from 7075 aluminum, it is as stiff a control that you can get as far as non-moving but structure supporting pieces. The finish is hard anodized blue and is applied on all surfaces both outside and inside. In hand, the 24mm diameter brake lever feels substantial and offers a finish that provides a good gripping surface. Which allows for consistent pulls. The resistance is provided by a spring inside the casement. The spring is not intended to be
swapped out with other springs, but looks like it could be done without too much drama if you wanted to. To change the amount of resistance you like in the Handbrakes stroke. An easy calibration
process is provided. The handbrake is controlled via a hall sensor setup mounted on a professional looking PCB. This senses the magnetic field strength proved by the magnet embedded in the lever pivot assembly. The mounting plate that comes with the Handbrake is a solid unit also constructed from 7075 aluminum. Providing a very solid mount if you have a sturdy place to mount it. I also used the available double mount that you get if you order one of MME’s shifters at the same time. It provides a convenient place to mount both controllers in tandem and has a nice angle
mount feature for the handbrake. Making for a more ergonomic pulling motion. However, this bracket needs to be a tad longer to allow it to accommodate full sized M8 T-Nuts without them interfering with each other or sticking out beyond the edges of the profile’s channel. I spoke with the guys at MME about this, and they said they would incorporate the required changes in all the tandem brackets moving forward. In use, the MME handbrake provided me with a consistent, firm feel that allowed me to get comfortable with it very quickly. I did have it adjusted to the maximum pull pressure that it could give me. This handbrake comes in at 399 euros plus VAT. Or around 445.00 + shipping. At this price point, MME has positioned this unit at the higher end of the Sim Racing Controller market.
