Racewerk S1 Pro Pedals Review

Final thoughts on the S1 Pro Pedals from the guys at Racewerk. Out of the box these pedals have a high quality feel and look to them. All the parts are made from 6061 aluminum billets. Which makes the main pedal structures very stiff. The billets are Custom CNC machined at a local shop. The pedals have a nice hard anodized black finish. Attention to detail is apparent everywhere you look. All edges have clean chamfering. The throttle uses a linear position sensor and custom spring setup. I was able to get it tuned to allow me to modulate the throttle as needed. The brake pedal sports a Tilton master cylinder with
a 1 inch piston. Which is connected to a custom designed slave cylinder. This slave cylinder was developed in house. Where they have complete control of design and testing. The clutch pedal has a differently sourced master cylinder, which also has 1 inch piston size. And of course the same Racework slave cylinder. There is a free calibration app that allows the user to adjust dead zones and create curves for the
pedals. An easy to use graphical interface but currently does not support profile saving. The first thing I noticed when putting the S1 Pro’s though the driving segment was how smooth they felt when actioning them. I couldn’t pinpoint what made them feel this way compared to other pedal sets I have tested with hydraulic brakes and clutches. I know they have been improving on the slave cylinders bore, piston, seals for a while now. And it looks as though it is paying off with a good result. I was able to get up to speed with these pedal quickly. The pedals offer enough adjustment to get what I need out of them to put in consistent lap times. Either using my heel and toe technique or normal left foot braking. They did hold up well to a few hours of heel and toe action without any ill effects like leaks, or stuck pistons. I did take issue with the bearing in the brake lever being looser than I think a pedal set at this price should be. Then again it is something that they can fix. Also, at just over 2000.00 before shipping. I would be nice if they included a pedal base assembly to assist in pedal mounting. Overall, I like the feel and performance of the Racewerk S1 Pros. But at this kind of price point they are certainly not something most of the sim racing community will be looking to buy.
