Final thoughts on the HBP handbrake from the guys at MOZA Racing. Out of the box, this hand brake presents as a well constructed and fitted unit. All aluminum housing and parts were nicely finished in a thick feeling black anodized coating. The brake handle also looked very good. I could find no defects in its construction. It is fairly easy to change out the springs or rubber bumper for a different feel and resistance to the very smooth stroke that this hand brake has. There are several different mounting location options for the handle. The HBP is a native USB device out of the box. So, no extra hubs or dongles required to get it up and running straight away. There is a professional looking circuit board mounted to the side of the housing. Mounting the HBP is a straight forward process with enough holes in the housing to meet most racers needs I think. I mounted my unit onto some short pieces of profile, so I could set the best ergonomic position for my use. MOZA Pit House software detected and activated the HBP with no issues. The software also provides the user a way to construct custom curves for how it behaves along the entirety of its stroke. Or, you can use the provided curves with a single click. I ran a linear curve to suit my driving style. Once I had the handle height dialed in, I had no issues with the HBP during the hours of use I put on it. It feels very solid under hand at all but the highest available handle location. Very smooth operation with little to no side play during the length of the levers stroke. Considering the build quality and performance the HBP exhibits, this would be a handbrake on my short list of ones to consider for sim racers looking for one. Especially at the price point of 100.00.
