VNM Simulation Pedals Review

Final thoughts on the VNM Simulation 3 Pedal set. Out of the box, this set presents very well. I could find no defects in the fit or finish. The pedals are constructed from CNC aluminum and finished with black anodization. The plates are over 8mm thick on the sides, and 6mm thick most everywhere else. All pivot points are supported by sealed bearing units. All fasteners are stainless steel. The pedals have a good amount of adjustments. This should give the user enough range to dial in their preferred positions. The clutch and throttle angle sensors are of a contactless hall sensor design. Which should give long life cycles. The USB conversion board sports a 24bit analog to digital conversion feature on what looks to be a well sorted, flexible circuit design. The brake pedal has a Mavin 200 kg load cell for pressure sensing duties. VNM also offers two upgrade kits for their pedal set. A brake upgrade kit and a damper upgrade kit. I was able to use the brake kit to tune the pedal enough to allow me to perform consistent braking during threshold braking. I wasn’t able to get it where I like during the crucial threshold to trail braking transitions. Of course, this is a very subjective thing. Others may find it sufficient for their needs. The damper kit does add a smoother, more analog feel to the pedals. I found it to most effective on the throttle pedal because of it’s long stroke when compared to the brake pedals stoke. I had the brake pedal setup as stiff as I could. So it did not really move enough for me to sense the difference. The clutch pedal damper did provide a different feel, but not as definitive as on the throttle pedal. I would like to see VNM offer the dampers individually, so customers don’t have to pay for something they may not feel is necessary. Using the pedals provided a good
solid experience when mounted to their baseplate and in turn mounted to a solid pedal tray. Good tactile feedback under foot that provided me with enough information to feel like I was controlling the car. I pounded on this set pretty good, and it did not show any areas of weakness. I struggled to find any real issues with VNM simulations pedals set. I could nitpick about wanting more range in the elastomer selection provided, or allowing customers to choose the dampers they wanted instead of paying for the whole set. But as far as build quality, and the parts used here, I think most would agree VNM has done a good job with this pedal set.
