Final thoughts on the new R series racing wheels from the guys at Turn Racing. This wheel currently comes in two versions. The R305 with a 305mm diameter and the R320 with a 320mm diameter.
Both wheels are constructed in the same manner with some minor differences. The overall fitment and finish on my samples was very good. There is a visible seam left on the molded urethane
grips, but I was not able to feel it when in hand. The grips have a textured finish and a very nice palm swell section. There are also some thumb and pinky finger indentations to provide a more ergonomic grip. Which allowed me to maintain my grip with less hand clamping pressure than a grip without these features. The result being less hand fatigue on longer stints. The grips are manufactured with a 50a shore rating. Which gave me enough stiffness to allow the FFB torque queues through without damping them too much. The wheel spoke section is made from 5mm thick
aluminum plate. I could sense no flex in this area when driving at race pace. The R series wheels gave me a good experience when racing. However, it must be noted that a steering wheel’s grip is something that is impossible to convey to someone using any type of media presentation. You really won’t know if it is for you unless you have one in hand. Of course, this the same with any racing steering wheel. Still at 147.00 plus shipping, the R Series from Turn Racing is one that I think should be on your list for consideration if the feature set show here aligns with your personal needs and wants. http://turnracing.com
